Today, the Swiss Identity Provider Clavid launched its restricted area providing OpenID authentication based on smart card tokens issued by Swiss Post as well as support for simple username/password authentication. Clavid is concentrating on implementing already existing authentication mechanisms and leverage these to protocols such as OpenID and SAML. For further information, please consult clavid.ch
The “open instant messaging and presence” Jabber.org web site now supports OpenID Logins since March 8, as has been announced here.
Jabber is an open, secure technology for instant messaging, decentralized network of IM services, a set of stable standards for real-time communications, published by the IETF, and a friendly community of end users and developers.
If you have an existing account at a Jabber-enabled service like Google Talk or Live Journal, you can simply use it with any Jabber IM free client and start chatting with others on the Jabber network. You can even run your own server!
